Religion 7/8: In September we continue to study how: Vatican I began a deep reflection on what it means to be Church Vatican II brought a new breath of fresh air into the Church As a result of Vatican II, the Church emphasizes even more the importance of being disciples in the world. Grades 6-8 will also be bringing Religion to the Pre-4s, Kdg, and 1st Grade. Their first lesson will be the Story of Creation.
Grade 6 Social Studies: In 6th grade we have been reviewing key ideas of Social Studies: Key ideas of geography Compare/contrast regions of the world Elements that make up culture How cultures change over time Role of producer/consumer Compare/contrast local and global economies We will be moving into Rivers and Civilizations, beginning with the Stone Age.
Grade 7 Social Studies: The 7th grade has just finished the First Americans. How agriculture changed the lives of the early people How the early civilizations of Mexico and central America developed socially, politically, and economically How the way of life of the Native Americans of North America related to their environment
Grade 8 Social Studies: The 8th grade picked up right after the Civil War during the Reconstruction Era: The different plans to unify the nation after the Civil War The results of Radical reconstruction How government in the Southern states changed during Reconstruction How the South changed politically, economically, and socially when Reconstruction ended
ELA 6-8: ELA is been broken up into sections of study. Mondays – Vocabulary Tuesdays – Grammar (Grade 6 will also concentrate on Writing) Wednesdays and Thursdays – Literature (reading) Fridays – Grades 7/8 Writing, Grade 6 Current Events
